Windows 8 bypass Metro/Modern UI - FREE
« on: December 30, 2012, 08:54:00 PM »
Here u go... FREE and lots of improvements over the original.

In Windows 8, Microsoft has prohibited the user to log on straight to the Windows Desktop through a system licensing policy. Due to this policy, you always have to start with the Modern UI. If you’re a power-user, or you just want choice, you should be able to boot your system straight to the desktop. I’m not against the Modern UI, and I have no problem with the start screen, but I’m pretty sure I (and many others) don’t need it right from the beginning of a session. It is also annoying to use some of the current solutions out there as all they do is skip this screen on every sign-in, but this results in showing the start screen for a split second, which can be a very jarring experience for the user. After a lot of work and research I finally think I found a native way and maybe the cleanest solution to bypass Modern UI during sign-in. Therefore I wrote an application to skip this behavior. Modern UI is not disabled. It all works, only the sign-in behavior is affected.

This Workaround/Tutorial does not
•modify any files
•require any other files
•work with external Tools
•create any task for every login

This method provides the advantages
•you don’t see the Modern UI splashing on logon in any way
•the Desktop interface is ready and fully loaded

So in conclusion it’s no patch, no binary editing of files, no replacement from any other prior Windows Systems!
This application simply makes a few changes to the licensing system to cut the restriction that forces you to go to the start screen on login. Again this application does not patch or alter any system files and it does not damage the licensing system in any way.

Changes from v.065 to v.066:
•+Changed process to generate tokens.dat
•+Forced reboot
•-Removed /rilc command
•*Disabled checkbox

Changes from v.06 to v.065:
•+Confirm prompt for install
•+Forced checkbox (with tooltip) (1 restart is needed, not 2 or ‘several’)
•+About button
•+Version string directly in UI
•-”Experimental” groupbox
•*UI redesigned

****************************************************************
Some have lost Activation when using this--- so you might have to Re-Activate or restore tokens.

It's funny to see that everyone who uses this OS undoes everything MS has envisioned as the path to the future. Why bother? In the upcoming versions Win32 will be replaced by WinRT and you can kiss your desktop goodbye. With or without Startbutton.

So you buy a revolutionary new car and take it to a customizer to strip it back to the old version. People are weird

I tested to see that it works, but I do not use....
I have not used Start Button in a very long time... wasted to me,
I agree petrossa - but like I stated a very long time ago, I would not use Win8 unless it was FREE.....
so far my FREE Edition is working just fine.... as M$ intended... I do test lots of stuff on it, but revert it back after
test...

You should read the start8 threads at Wincustomize. And if you ask them this question you better be wearing fire resistant body armor  :P

If you just let it sleep at the desktop with any applications open ... when it wakes (in seconds) your back at the desktop with whatever you left open there to use ... don't have to see metro at all - anyway that's how I'm using it - shortcuts all in a taskbar toolbar menu :

Then why does mine - set to go to sleep in 1 hour.... I move the mouse or click any key, it wakes up
1. Lock screen,  so I have to click there then it comes up where I left it...

it never has restarted directly to desktop ....
Now I'm using FREE Edition of Windows 8 RTM Enterprise x64... default except for set sleep in 1 hour....
background changed and user icon changed...

Maybe not such a good idea for your electric bill?

No idea ... I use sleep on all comps, win7 and win8 : the win8 comes to sign on when woken but then straight to where I left off at desktop ... you can get rid of sign on if you want ... remove password login from account : I'll try and find article  :occasion14:

this wasn't the original but gives directions on how to remove password for win 8 : also my version was a $14:99 version - no idea if that makes a difference. running on C2D E6750 - P35 motherboard
